“Where are the Spiritual Fathers?”
I hear the cry of this generation asking: “Where are all the Spiritual Fathers?”
Many people today think that the “time of refreshing” we are experiencing will bring the Body of Christ together but it cannot of itself; but it is just a prelude to it. It is actually being used more to cause the discomfort necessary for the bones to start “shaking and rattling” and searching for their place in the body of Christ. It will not be long before there is a great army of people who are totally dissatisfied with the current status of the Church and they will be ready to leave their denominations, movements and streams in order to come into the “river” of God.
There are thousands of young Believers who have had their “Hearts turned to the Fathers” and yet they look and look and cannot find the “Fathers” they seek? Why is that? Well, people are people and they had the same problem in the days of Paul the Apostle. He said: “You may have 10,000 teachers but there are not many Fathers” …
A Spiritual Father is not an “Overlord” who tells you what to do and tries to control your life and ministry. He is a Mature Man of God who has a deep desire to see the next Generation come into their own… He is an Elijah wanting to pass his mantle on to an Elisha. He is a “Covenant Man”. He is not out for “glory” and recognition. He wants to see those whom The Lord places in his life step into their destiny!
As more Spiritual Fathers mature and have their “Hearts turned to the sons” this will happen and a great army of believers will arise. They will be sold out to the Lord and the Fathers will be there to help them find their place so they stand up ready to do the work of the Lord!
Todays 10,000 instructors like to teach and preach their favorite doctrines and build their little kingdoms. Fathers are few and hard to find but look up… you can hear the Voice of our Heavenly Father resounding in the voices of those who He is raising up as true “Spiritual Fathers” in the land today. When you hear them they speak of the unity of the faith. They do not bring messages that divide but words that cause their sons to “grow up into Him in all things, which is the Head, even Christ. From whom the whole body, fitly framed and joined together and compacted by that which every joint supplieth, according to effectual working in the measure of every part, maketh increase of the body unto the edifying of itself in love.” God will have a United Church. It is His Son’s Church and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it but of its increase there shall be no end.
