Here is more about Healing in The Atonement
Let me ask you two questions…
How did Jesus forgive sins and heal the sick before He died on the cross?
What gave Him the right to do that?
First let’s look and see how sickness and disease entered the world
Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned:
Sin brought sickness as the agent of death. Once sickness reaches the point where nature cannot remove it, it is sure to produce death unless removed by the Power of God!
In Moses time, Sickness was called the “curse of the Law”
If thou wilt not observe to do all the words of this law that are written in this book, that thou mayest fear this glorious and fearful name, The Lord Thy God; Then the Lord will make thy plagues wonderful, and the plagues of thy seed, even great plagues, and of long continuance, and Bore sicknesses, and of long continuance. Moreover he will bring upon thee all the diseases of Egypt, which thou wast afraid of; and they shall cleave unto thee. Also every sickness, and every plague, which is not written in The Book of this Law, them will the Lord bring upon thee, until thou be destroyed.
But God made a way of escape! Moses was able to make Atonement for sin and sickness
And Moses made a serpent of brass, and put it upon a pole, and it came to pass, that if a serpent had bitten any man, when he beheld the serpent of brass, he lived.
Isaiah the Prophet spoke about the Messiah and the Atonement He would make atonement too
Surely he hath borne our griefs, and carried our sorrows: yet we did esteem him stricken, smitten of God, and afflicted. But he was wounded for our transgressions; he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed.
The New Testament shows us Jesus
That it might be fulfilled which was spoken by Isaiah the prophet, saying, Himself took our infirmities, and bare our sicknesses
Jesus did this through His faith in The Father
Who in the days of his flesh, when he had offered up prayers and supplications with strong crying and tears unto him that was able to save him from death, and was heard in that he feared; 8Though he were a Son, yet learned he obedience by the things which he suffered; And being made perfect, he became the author of eternal salvation unto all them that obey him; Called of God an High Priest after the order of Melchisedec.
Jesus then completed the work at Calvary redeeming us from the curse of the law
John 3: 14
And as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, even so must the Son of man be lifted up:
Christ hath redeemed us from the curse of the law, being made a curse for us: for it is written, Cursed is every one that hangs on a tree:
So we can see that Jesus, as our High Priest made Atonement for our sins and sicknesses both during His life by His prayers.
On the Cross He made atonement and removed the “curse of the Law”.
He believed in the power of the cross before he was crucified and we believe in it afterwards.
He looked forward towards the cross…
We look back at the cross…
It is all because of Calvary
