By Bishop Frank Dupree
The Bible shows us that Sickness and Disease entered the world through Sin:
Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned:
Sin brought sickness as the agent of death. Once sickness reaches the point where nature cannot remove it, it is sure to produce death unless removed by the Power of God!
Sickness became the “curse of the Law” when The Lord brought the Jewish People into a “Covenant Relationship”
If thou wilt not observe to do all the words of this law that are written in this book
, that thou mayest fear this glorious and fearful name, The Lord Thy God; Then the Lord will make thy plagues wonderful, and the plagues of thy seed, even great plagues, and of long continuance, and Bore sicknesses, and of long continuance. Moreover he will bring upon thee all the diseases of Egypt, which thou wast afraid of; and they shall cleave unto thee. Also every sickness, and every plague, which is not written in The Book of this Law, them will the Lord bring upon thee, until thou be destroyed.
The Covenant of the Old Testament provided an Atonement for sin to bring Forgiveness of sins and Healing of sickness and disease…
Who forgiveth all thine iniquities; who healeth all thy diseases
And Moses said unto Aaron, Take a censer, and put fire therein from off the altar, and put on incense, and go quickly unto the congregation, and make an atonement for them: for there is wrath gone out from the Lord; the plague is begun. And Aaron took as Moses commanded, and ran into the midst of the congregation; and, behold, the plague was begun among the people: and he put on incense, and made an atonement for the people. And he stood between the dead and the living; and the plague was stayed. Now they that died in the plague were fourteen thousand and seven hundred, beside them that died about the matter of Korah. And Aaron returned unto Moses unto the door of the tabernacle of the congregation: and the plague was stayed.
“And Moses made a serpent of brass, and put it upon a pole, and it came to pass, that if a serpent had bitten any man, when he beheld the serpent of brass, he lived.”
Looking towards the New Covenant, Isaiah the Prophet spoke about the Messiah and the Atonement He would make…
Surely he hath borne our griefs (sicknesses), and carried our sorrows: yet we did esteem him stricken, smitten of God, and afflicted. But he was wounded for our transgressions; he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed.– 2 – July 14, 2010
Jesus fulfilled that Prophecy
That it might be fulfilled which was spoken by Isaiah the prophet, saying, Himself took our infirmities, and bare our sicknesses
Jesus’s Atonement parallels that of the Old Testament…
John 3: 14
Jesus said: “As Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, even so must the Son of man be lifted up.”
Jesus’ Atonement went BEYOND the Old Testament CANCELLING out the Curse of the Law…
Christ hath redeemed us from the curse of the law, being made a curse for us: for it is written, Cursed is every one that hangs on a tree:
In whom we have redemption through his blood, even the forgiveness of sins:
As our High Priest, Jesus became our Atonement for both Sins and Sickness on the Cross
As they looked at Moses’ serpent of brass and lived we look at Jesus and live!
Come and receive forgiveness and healing!
