Media Madness!

Media Madness!

Luke 2:1-7      And it came to pass in those days that a decree went out from Caesar Augustus that all the world should be registered. 2 This census first took place while Quirinius was governing Syria. 3 So all went to be registered, everyone to his own city. 4 Joseph also went up from Galilee, out of the city of Nazareth, into Judea, to the city of David, which is called Bethlehem, because he was of the house and lineage of David, 5 to be registered with Mary, his betrothed wife, who was with child. 6 So it was, that while they were there, the days were completed for her to be delivered. 7 And she brought forth her firstborn Son, and wrapped Him in swaddling cloths, and laid Him in a manger, because there was no room for them in the inn.

Wait… This isn’t Christmas… did I read the wrong Scripture?

No, I’m using the birth of Jesus to illustrate one of the most heinous plots the enemy has ever conceived!

Why We Are So Busy and Don’t Have Time for Jesus or Our Spiritual Life?

Because there is “No Room at The Inn!”

Beloved, there is an enemy that wants to keep Jesus out of the “Inn” of our Souls!

That enemy is MEDIA…

24 Hour Cycle of News and Entertainment

The “world” is constantly pulling on us to “pay attention” to it! It uses Media to accomplish this very efficiently!

There are “Gates” to our Minds/Souls…

Proverbs 20:12          The hearing ear and the seeing eye, The LORD has made them both.

We must be careful what we allow to enter through those Gates into our Minds/Souls!

1 John 2:15-17           Stop loving the world and the things that are in the world. If anyone persists in loving the world, the Father’s love is not in him. 16 For everything that is in the world—the desire for fleshly gratification, the desire for possessions, and worldly arrogance—is not from the Father but is from the world. 17 And the world and its desires are fading away, but the person who does God’s will remains forever.

2 Peter 2:20    For if, after they have escaped the pollutions of the world through the knowledge of the Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, they are entangled in them again and overcome, the latter end is worse for them than the beginning.

1 Corinthians 16:15 I beseech you, brethren, (ye know the house of Stephanas, that it is the firstfruits of Achaia, and that they have addicted themselves (devoted themselves) to the ministry (service) of the saints,)

Why we need to spend time in The Word of God and personal prayer-talk:

  1. To get to know God better
  2. To become more like Jesus
  3. To become spiritually mature
  4. To be trained and equipped to accomplish His purposes
  5. To give us encouragement, peace, comfort, wisdom, and guidance
  6. To know God’s Promises        Psalms 103:2
